There’s a car club here in Christchurch where we love our Leyland cars
We meet and go for outings and drive both near and far
The guys just love the throaty roar of V 8’s given the gun
The ladies aren’t so much impressed but go just for the fun
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Our President is Adrian who runs the meetings well
Except when he forgot to come, and did we give him hell!
But Fleming stepped into the gap and everything was fine
Oh it is really great to be a P Nut

First Lady is our Beverley, so full of bright ideas
She asks Fleming for money, it brings him close to tears
But its always for a good cause and benefits us all
Oh it is really great to be a P nut

Fleming is our treasurer and guards the money well
The income comes from parts and things that honest Donald sells
Every little dollar and every little cent
Is carefully recorded as to where the money went.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut

Betty is our baker, she makes a super cake
And P76 biscuits which she quite often takes
To a particular outing, and hands them all around
So crisp and so delicious, our taste buds know no bounds
Oh it is really great to be a P nut

George at last is happy after years of feeling pain
From losing dearest Noeline, but he’s smiling once again
As Sandy came along and brightened up his life
She organizes outings and saves a lot of strife.
Oh it is really great to be a P Nut

Across the pass in Reefton live dear Robyn and Frank
They come across here now and then which empties out the tank
If you ever go to Reefton, be sure to look them up
You’ll be made so very welcome with a muffin and a cup.

Vinetta’s had a bad year, her health is not the best
With little stays in hospital to help ensure her rest
She comes as often as she can to join in with her friends
And we remember sadly her lovely husband Ian.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Our Kenneth washes windows and always has a joke
He’s now become a pensioner, a very happy bloke
And with him goes the lovely Claire, so elegant and fine
She’s every inch a lady and always very kind.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Eric is a member without a current car
Oh granted he has lots of them all parked within his yard
But none of them are going for lack of little things
So he has to drive a modern when we go on our outings.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Lesley is so quiet but has a winsome smile -
How she puts up with Eric has puzzled us a while
But she likes to come on outings and join our merry band
As we travel in the Leylands here and there across the land
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Murray is our expert at running AGM’s
He organizes venues and Methven was a gem
Otherwise he’s golfing or going out with Joyce
She has made him really happy and we applaud his choice.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

The Warrens now are grandparents and John not long retired
With children grown and off his hands, he can feel quite inspired
Frances is so busy, the family keep her so,
And lots of other interests that keep her on the go.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Another lovely couple who are loyal members too
Is Marion and Robin, both reliable and true
Robin makes some badges and will always show his car
At Classic Car or Swap Meet which is really rather far.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

The ones that keep us young at heart are Andrew and his brood
The children are so lovely and always very good
Andrew is a stalwart, on him you can depend
To come along to meetings and stay until the end.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

It’s good to have new members, so welcome Chris and Mark
Hope your car is going well and always keen to start
And if there are any others with names not on this list
I am so very sorry for all those I have missed.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

Another recent member is Adrian No.2
He drives of course a Leyland but fancies Valiants too
He currently wants a flywheel to make a jet boat go
Don thinks there may be one in stock
Which will increase our dough.
And last the Alexander’s, namely Jen and Don
Don is our Parts Manager and rarely gets it wrong
Jen is just a passenger, doing less not more
But enjoys the varied outings and the engines mighty roar.
Oh it is really great to be a P nut.

So as we gather here tonight for Christmas once again
We think about the year that’s gone, the sunshine and the rain
A happy Christmas to you all and happy New Year too
And lots of happy motoring to last the whole year through
