Two weeks after our Waimate trip, the Alexander's, Warrens and Buchananís joined the Faulknerís in Hanmer Springs and entered our cars in the 2016 Hanmer Motorfest organised by the Falcon and Fairlane Clubs. This is now an annual event and growing larger each year with over 400 cars displayed.
Our 4 Leylandís looked very impressive amidst so many American cars and generated the usual interest "Don't see many of these about nowadays!" There was a Ferrari worth about 1.4 million dollars, a Cadillac coupe painted glacier blue by its lady owner which has won many concourses, numerous Chevs and Pontiacs and other Americana.
After leaving the car show we had dinner at a new local restaurant and stayed overnight in Hanmer, returning to Christchurch and Methven the following day.
A quick check of the Falcon and Fairlane Clubs web site event report sadly showed no photos of the P76ís in attendance but certainly showed off a lot of the other entrants.
The photos show the Faulkner BA D, Warren N E, Buchanan BA D and Alexander AG E off in spectacular fashion outside the Faulknerís Amuri House in Hanmer Springs. Good to see John and Frances can get their car around the South Island on a regular basis.
The Cadillac is referred to in Jeniferísí report above, check out the detailing on the air cleaner and radiator cap. Superb, and good to have a photo of another make of car to show off.
